OFNS Violations System

The Department of Education’s Office of Food and Nutrition Services (OFNS) provides over 1 million students with access to nutritional food choices.

To guarantee the food served as well as the kitchen facilities are held to the highest code standards, the NYC Health Department conducts unannounced inspections minimum once to twice a year. Inspectors check that the food and facilities comply with food safety regulations. In instances where facilities fail to do so, a violation will be issued, resulting in a fine if they fail to resolve the issue in a timely manner.
